Pit stops in Hawaii aka paradise. (Part 3)

Ocean breeze blowing with Diamond Head Mountain in the background.

On the last day of my trip and my last day in Hawaii, Tony's roommates were nice enough to take me around to check out some of the island and see a stunning sunset.

My Hawaiian tour guilds.

One of the cool place they took me to was the lava tube, which is a tunnel that was crated by flowing lava long ago and now you can walk through it.  From this location you can clearly see how the island was crated by volcanic activity.  Just by looking at the landscape and the rock walls you can imagine how and where the lava was flowing and then harden.

The last place they took me to before my flight that night, was the China Wall to see the sunset right behind Diamond Head Mountain.  The color of the sky, the refection of the sun on the water, the cool breeze; everything was just so perfect.  I guess this is way Hawaii is called paradise.

Pit stops in Hawaii aka paradise. (Part 2)

Waikiki Beach, Oahu, Hawaii.

After being able to take a bus to Pearl Harbor on my own, I felt confident that I cold travel in Oahu on my own.  So I went to check out the very touristy Waikiki Beach; where I played chess with some old men by the water for a few hours and was able to see one of the sunsets Hawaii is famous for.  This is one of the best parts about traveling by your self; you don't have to worry if another person want to do the same thing you wants to do or if they are getting board doing what you wanted.  You're on your own time.

Diamond Head.

I had heard so much about Jack in the box, so when I seen it in Hawaii I had to try it.  Other than the curly fries and the two tacos for a dollar, it wasn't as good as it's mad out to be.

Pit stops in Hawaii aka paradise. (Part 1)

For the whole month of December I had the chance to travel through out Australia; since I knew I would be crossing the Pacific to get there I decided to stop in Hawaii on the way there and on the way back to see one of my closest friends, Tony.

On my first stop in Hawaii I was only there for 6 days, there was a lot of rain, and I was spending Thanksgiving with Tony and his friends.  So over all I did not get to see much of Oahu, which is the Island Tony lives on.  But bad weather and all I fell in love with the island.  The advertising and documentaries you see about Hawaii do not do it justice; it's so much better than what is promised.

Tony on his porch aka lanai.

Very day there is a stunning sunsets.

When got back to Oahu after my month in Australia Tony wasn't there because he had left to the East Cost to spend the holidays.  But he let me crash at his place, which was awesome of him.  Being that I love WWII history, one of the things on my bucket list was to visit Pearl Harbor, so there was no way I would miss the chance to go visit it.  After taking 3 buses and a long ride, I got there and it was worth it.  It was very moving to be that this location and learned about what happened on the infamous December 7th in 1941.

I was also lucky enough to met a American Hero who had been on the island during the Pearl Harbor attacks and who fought in Europe during WWII.  I bought his autobiography, which I read in two days, and was very inspired with the long and incredible life he has lived.

The view from Tony's room is breath taking because you can see all of the Manoa Valley and the buildings of downtown Honolulu in the distance.
