Rhode Island Food Fights Incredible Ice Cream Throwdown 2013

I was looking through and cleaning up the file on my iMac's desktop and found a folder with these image, which I thought I had already posted on my blog.  I guess not so here they are now. Better late than never, right?  These images were from the "Rhode Island Food Fights Incredible Ice Cream Throwdown 2013", which was head on June 23rd in the Rhode Island Eye Institute's parking lot in Providence.  Below is a description of what the event was about by David Dadekian of www.eatdrinkri.com.

"Ten area ice cream producers competed to see who had the best ice cream, according to a panel of four culinary judges (which included this writer), along with competing for the People’s Choice. Three awards, created by Ahlers Designs, were announced by the time the last spoonful of ice cream was consumed.
According to judges Chef Maria Meza of El Rancho Grande, Chef Andrew Shotts of Garrison Confections, Crystal Sparkman of Bake. Eat. Love. and David Dadekian of Eat Drink RI, first place went to The Inside Scoop of North Kingstown for their Peanut Butter Oreo ice cream. Second place went to newcomer Ellie’s Bakery in Providence for their Lemon Basil Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich. For the first time at a RI Food Fights, People’s Choice was a tie between the aforementioned The Inside Scoop and Three Sisters in Providence for their Strawberry Basil ice cream. Congratulations to all the winners.

RI Food Fights was created and produced by Jim Nellis. John Taraborelli and Mike “Bobby” Ritz entertainingly hosted the event, and two of The TropiGals were excellent Ice Cream Hostesses."

After the event I went with a few friends to El Rancho Grande to get amazing Mexican food; if you haven't been there yet I highly recommend it, you will not want to go any where else after.

Amazing mezcal drink at El Rancho Grande.
